These aircraft fragments are from the #3 Blue Angles F-4J Phantom II jet fighter which crashed on November 6, 1969 during an air show in El Paso, Texas. Both Captain Vince D. Donile and Captain Kevin O’Mara ejected safely from the aircraft.
Captain Vince D. Donile had also previously ejected on September 19, 1969 during an Air Show over San Francisco Bay, California.
Previous to both ejections, Captain Vince D. Donile exceeded the speed of sound (767 mph) at “Canada’s Greatest Air Show” in Kelowna, British Colombia creating a SONIC BOOM that shattered all the windows in the city.
In total, with two destroyed F-4J Phantom II jets and the replacement of all the windows in Kelowna, British Colombia - Captain Vince D. Donile holds the notorious distinction for being
